Cannabidiol: why it is so valued

Mag 2, 2023 | Cannabis Light | 0 comments

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a natural substance found in cannabis. When applied locally or consumed through inhalation or food, CBD helps regulate mood, homeostasis and the immune system, and treat conditions such as chronic pain, inflammation, migraine, epilepsy, autoimmune diseases, depression and anxiety. Today, thanks to Law 242/2016, it is possible to sell and consume light cannabis and derivatives absolutely legally. We discuss this in the following article.

What is Cannabidiol

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a natural substance found in cannabis. For centuries, cannabis has played a key role in traditional Chinese medicine and later in North African and European cultures. Its earliest applications date back to at least the 4th century B.C.; it was used for its extensive therapeutic properties, in particular, for its soothing and relaxing effects.

In addition to CBD, however, Cannabis also includes other cannabinoids, mainly THC, the substance responsible for psychotropic and hallucinogenic reactions. More and more countries, including in Europe, have legalized the use of cannabinoid products containing CBD, provided they have near-zero percentages of THC.

The beneficial effects of Cannabidiol

The beneficial effects of cannabidiol are, above all, related to the proper functioning of our nervous system. CBD, in fact, intervenes both centrally and peripherally, leading to a general psychophysical well-being; this is why it has long been used for anxiety and depression, but also as a useful calming agent in supporting disorders associated with serious and painful diseases.

CBD can also help improve sleep quality and has excellent anti-inflammatory effects. It is widely used for skin care, particularly for acne and several types of dermatitis such as psoriasis.

Cannabidiol, moreover, is an excellent natural pain reliever. It proves very effective in headaches, joint or back pain, and also in degenerative diseases characterized by severe pain. Multiple sclerosis patients, for example, use it to relieve cramps caused by the disease.

In some cases, CBD can be used to treat seizures related to Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome.

Studies on the anticancer effects of cannabis

Studies carried out by theAmerican Cancer Society, a voluntary society committed to fighting cancer, have reported that both THC and CBD and derivatives, slow growth and/or cause death in some cancer cells. Laboratory tests, performed on mice and rats, have suggested that some cannabinoids may slow the growth and reduce the spread of some forms of cancer. However, we are still in an experimental stage, and these anticancer effects seem to depend on the type of tumor and the dose of the drug. Scientists are cautious, but finding a cure for this disease using cannabinoids represents hope for everyone.

The market for light cannabis in Italy

With the enactment of Law 242/2016 on Jan. 14, 2017, the Italian Parliament approved the legal provisions on "promoting the cultivation and agro-industrial chain of hemp in Italy." Thanks to the legalization of light cannabis , numerous CBD startups have sprung up producing, processing and marketing light dicannabis products. Reports from the National Hemp Consortium, speak of annual turnover, between physical stores, online stores and the production chain, being around 150 million euros, but according to forecasts it could reach 400 million euros and more within a few years. Of course, these estimates depend not only on regular users of cannabis light, but also on the consumption of cannabis-derived products and future legislative regulation.

The sale of light cannabis in Italy

The legalization of light cannabis, which is so appreciated by people, has initiated the birth and development of a large number of companies engaged in the cultivation, processing and distribution of light cannabis and its derivatives. Today, you have the option of buying the products you prefer, and need, from your retailer of choice in a physical store as well as online. Both options offer several advantages; the physical store allows you to have a direct relationship with the seller, to ask for advice and explanations, receiving immediate response. Online stores, on the other hand, offer the advantage of placing orders directly from home, relying on a greater variety of products, and receiving the package conveniently at the place where you want it.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the beneficial effects of CBD are mainly related to improving the consumer's quality of life. Relieving pain, reducing inflammation, balancing mood swings, and generally relaxing the nervous system all contribute to regaining at least some of our well-being so that we can cope more easily with our daily activities or medical conditions.
